The Turneri (tʌr.nɜːr.iː) were a voracious species of microscopic cells endemic to the planet Akawyerda, and the first species to evolve on that planet post-panspermia seeding from the simnus. Their lineage would ultimately lead to the Chuxub, the dominant sapient lifeform on the planet.
Description[]
Turneri were thin, unicellular organisms with a few distinctive organelles: A hardened jaw-like structure at their anterior end to allow for chewing of meat particles and puncturing through other cell's membranes and walls; a pair of significant eyespots attached to eyestalks for a modicum of sight; a flagellum at the posterior end for movement; and a pair of hardened spike-like defensive organelles to protect against their being predated upon. Their cytoplasm was red.
During their evolutionary history they continued to expand in size, starting out around 175μm while the final members of the genus measured around 250μm.

- The Turneri was the first evolution made in a game of Spore for the planet Akawyerda, and was used during the Cell Stage between size 2.5 and 3.0, where it was evolved into the nitago.
