Tibtanite

Tibtanite is an unusually soft rock formation composed of pure ferrite and paraffinium, with the former being the primary elemental compound involved. It has an average metal content of 62%.

The mineral was first discovered by the Gek Noot on the planet Avan. It was formed during the early life years of the planet when metallic vapor released by lithotrophic microbes consumed local ferrite through their natural digestion process. These creatures would then die out and under certain conditions led to the formation of oily solids that eventually became paraffin.

Tibtanite is a large rock that is unusually soft considering its contents. It is mostly brown, though it is capped in purple in certain sections which is thought to possibly be attributed to the paraffinium within even though paraffin wax is normally white in color.
