Pleasants (Sanusinzu urmedaga) are a species of large ungulate herbivores indigenous to the planet Ilongoqungo. They are so named for their somewhat dopey but seemingly pleased smiles on their faces.

PhysiologyEdit

Sexual dimorphismEdit

Pleasants display sexual dimorphism. Both species develop keratin plaques along their back and upon the crown of the skull, which will fail to shed older sections off as they grow to develop protective horns. In males, only the plaques on their head will grow this way, leading to a pair of horns that will be used in mating competition against other males. Males became known as Plaquebacks because of this, as their backs will keep plates segments along their back and the two genders were given common names before they were formally studied and discovered to be one species.

Females are known instead as Spinebrowsers. Instead of the male's horns, the females' dorsal plaques will not shed, developing spines along their back. Although these would appear to have evolved to defend against a predatory species to protect the female and the young she may be carrying at any given time, it would appear that this is no longer a problem as no known predators are currently found on the planet, possibly hinting at sapient intervention. Now they provide a challenge to would-be mates to figure out how best to attempt to breed with a female.

RangeEdit

The Pleasants cover a wide range across the planet's surface, and can be found within moors, dales, and plains which include both Tinikoho Moor, a small Gek outpost on the planet, and the Hitone Plains, the area surrounding the planet's operations center. They can sometimes be found in conjunction with the planet's apex browser, the Hammerhead Kingbrowse, and by extension their entourage, the Feathered Remorabacks.

Strangely, they seem to have some sort of affinity towards Gek ruins, and are most often found around these locations. Although no official reason behind this is known, it is speculated that the First Spawn Geks may have domesticated the species, leading to a feral stock that still hang around their master's former locations.
