Cixilo Theia was Hunyago empress of the Morphist Imperium from 1423 CE to 1479 CE. Having succeeded Wallia Egica following her death. She was succeeded by Uldebard Shavo after abdicating.

Born out of wedlock in the newly settled colony on the planet Yopaat located in the neighboring Faranak system, Cixilo was raised by her father Alboin Theia and a fellow colonist woman, both hailing from the South Asoya region. She joined the imperial army in 870 CE. Working her way to the year 1100 CE where she became general. Her time as a top leader came to a halt after Gundrada Joveta removed her over failures to make any decisive victory against the kingu.

Cixilo enters the capital scene in 1394 CE when amurru empress Wallia Egica made her Domestic of the Schools, the highest military position in the empire as a reward for her loyalty during her consolidation of power. Being her right-hand up until Wallia's death in 1423 CE. Her reign marked the first time since the 11th century that the imperium truly went to war against the karli. Although ending in a stalemate, her later conflicts against the kingu went far better. Pushing further along the iraunkor region. In 1479 CE, a concentrated effort by the military led to her abdication. However she would not fade from the history. In 1601 CE, in another attempt to regain the throne, she fought against a returned Gundrada Joveta. In the end, Cixilo was defeated, mutilated, and then sent to Ulgan in permanent exile where she would die. Her body was interred in the imperial mausoleum.

Reign[]

Becoming empress in 1423 CE after the death of Wallia Egica from wounds sustained in a skirmish against the kingu, Cixilo immediately faced a major revolt in Martu. While the morphist administration had managed to stop it from gaining serious momentum and spread to nearby worlds, she gave increased autonomy to the area. Meanwhile her close friend Sueb Adaldus, with the powerful Wallia out of the way, had been sidelined after her unexpected succession. Creating a rift between the two. In came heated after she transferred the planet's moon, Erlik into a separate theme in an effort to curtail his local influence. In response, Sueb re-arranged the thematic sector to preserve his power base. However, the act did not create any real conflict between them. Devolving into a 'cold war' in influence.

Back to Martu, the anoization of the amurru since the early 1200's created a blended mix of anoism and traditional amurru beliefs. Leading to the creation of the Karapatanism sect, so named by it's founder and local theologian Totila Karapatan. Making a scene between the orthodox population who saw it as heretical and this new movement wished for equal representation. In a rare instance of a morphist empress dabbling in religious affairs since the early 6th century, Cixilo called the Council of Rey in 1431 CE to settle the dispute. While not exactly having any expertise in regards to religious discussion, she mediated the council as a neutral presence. Fortunately for her the session ended in a compromise that recognized the legitimacy of the movement in return for communion with the Mergen-based leadership. For this, she would be venerated in the anoist canon as an 'honored' individual.

Cixilo's Karli War (1435-1439)[]

Since their introduction in 1023 CE, the relationship between the hunyago and Karli had been a mixed affair. Consisting either of soft diplomacy or low-scale conflict. It would be during her reign that Morphist-Karli relations reached it's all-time low. Suspicious of a possible Karli-Kingu alliance, Cixilo set out to prevent such a collaboration. Attacking a clan fleet that was refueling near Harin and driving it away. Promulgating an edict that banned karli fleets from using imperium ports. Several clan fleets raided across the iraunkor, plundering Harin. The kaima also invaded the iraunkor, probably encouraged by the karli, thereby in her eyes, proving the suspicion correct. Against the leadership of the Orestonid clan, she invaded the Yorgistu Bowl, a region often inhabited by karli designated as their unofficial home system, but was defeated by their combined fleets. Ending the conflict with a treaty undoing the earlier edict. Within a few weeks after she violated the terms of the treaty and attacked them again. Although fighting off pickets, the enemy refused to give battle. Returning back to Mergen two months later to pass anti-karli legislation targeted towards the nomadic segment. Launching yet another foray into the bowl, she defeated several clan fleets caught by surprise, but like before, the fleets did not give battle. Cixilo then turned around to lay waste to the bowl. In an effort to make this nomadic enemy to migrate elsewhere. Undeterred karli then intensified their attacks reaching all the way to Kayra.

Unable to beat them through conventional means, Cixilo placed any major offensives on hold. Only attacking individual clans in the asymmetrical style. On a diplomatic level, she successfully appealed to nearby states to deny their fleets ports to refuel and resupply. However, the fleets were far more resourceful than expected. Still able to procure their own fuel and food. Three years having passed since adopting this strategy, bearing no fruit. In a final effort, her forces commenced the usual invasion of Yorgistu. Retreating after a few skirmishes. Not alike her last attempts they did come out in force in belief of the retreat. However the decisive encounter she had long wanted would not happen when a karli auxiliary betrayed the plan. Encouraged by advisors and forewarned of an eventual invasion from the kaima, negotiated a treaty with the Orestonids. Ending all offensive operations. Nevertheless her administration would continue to interfere with their affairs. Coming into political competition with the rovar over the election of a morphist-friendly leader Atrogestin alongside his eponymous clan, would later flee to Mergen after losing a civil war to the Capida clan.

Troubles at the Front (1440-1454)[]

With her karli adventure ending in a stalemate, Cixilo went to the Morphist-Kingu border in order to inspect troops and the military situation. Since most of her attention was directed towards the nomadic karli, the kingu harassment had grown bolder. Creating inroads to other parts of the iraunkor although the retaking of Harin remained a priority. Spending a few months reinforcing it's defenses. In 1443 CE, a double-prong attack by the kaima occurred near Harin, but this turned out to be a distraction when a majority force attacked the western section. Richomer Willigod's earlier deportations of it's previous kingu occupants had in effect rendered the area lacking sufficient manpower. Allowing the kaima's forces to occupy the area against light resistance. Sallying local garrisons skirmished with the invading army, however remained unfazed.
